“I can’t think of how anyone can become a director without learning the craft of cinematography” – Nicholas Roeg
I’m a sucker for a beautiful image. If there’s one thing that pops out at me when I watch a film is how it’s intricately framed, where everyone and everything is placed in the 16×9 anamorphic widescreen of a lens. Sidney Lumet said that all of his choices in cinematography were not ones he made because they ‘looked better’, but because they ‘had to be that way’. This page is a sort of gallery; an ode to some really cool, and iconic images that I love in movies that I’ve watched. Of course, they’ll be accompanied with a short excerpt.
